Proofreading with a little sparkle!
I will make your writing shimmer!
Hi, I'm Sandy, and my goal is to ensure that your writing is free of errors and ready for publication. I love to help authors by making their writing sparkle! I especially enjoy helping those writers whose native language is not English. I am a native English speaker with an innate ability to spot errors in writing. I earned a certificate from General Proofreading: Theory and Practice™, a rigorous and professional proofreading course. I also hold a master's degree in education, and I am a former reading specialist. I am attentive to detail, an excellent communicator, and I promise to put the same effort into your project that I would put into my own work. If your writing is clear, concise, and complete, but you still need a fresh set of eyes to identify punctuation, capitalization, spelling, and grammatical errors, I can help!

Please submit your project in Microsoft Word. I will use Track Changes to mark your writing.

Q&A
I have an editor, so why do I need a proofreader?
An editor makes structural changes to writing to ensure the author's ideas are organized, the writing is coherent, and that sentence structure is correct. A proofreader (that's me) corrects technical errors, such as grammar (affect versus effect), spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. Proofreading is the final stage before publication. It is important to have a proofreader look at your writing because it is difficult for writers to find errors in their own work. This is because they've read it and reread it so many times already that they tend to see what they meant to write instead of what is actually there in print.
What style guides do you use?
I follow the current edition of the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS). I am also familiar with American Psychological Association (APA) and Modern Language Association (MLA).
